From one man’s journey across the world has grown into a family legacy that continues to shape 
the future of butchery through generations of dedication.

1926

The Beginning

Pasquale Princi is born on 1 October 1926 in Delianuova, Reggio Calabria, Italy.

1930

The Future Arrives

Mariantonia Princi is born on 25 May 1930 in Delianuova, Reggio Calabria, Italy.

1949

A New Journey

On 28 April 1949, Pasquale set sail from Messina Port, Sicily, and arrived at Port Fremantle, Western Australia, on 7 November 1949. At 23 years old, he began his first job as a farm hand.

1950

First Butcher Shop Opens

The first P.Princi butcher shop opens in Northbridge, on the corner of Fitzgerald and Newcastle Street, marking Pasquale as the fifth-generation butcher in the Princi family.

1952

The Family
Reunites

On 26 August 1952, Mariantonia departs Messina Port, Sicily, aboard the vessel Napoli, accompanied by their only son, Giuseppe (born 12 June 1950, aged 2).They arrive at Port Fremantle on 21 September 1952.

1956

Heartbreaking Loss

Giuseppe Princi, first born son of Pasquale and Maria Antonia Princi, sadly passes away in a tragic accident.

1957

Fremantle Flagship Store Opens

After the tragic accident, Pasquale Princi purchased a fruit shop in Fremantle from the Sorbi brothers and transformed it into a butcher shop. This store became the heart of the P.Princi brand and the reputation that lives on today.

1975

Introduction of Joe to the business

Joe Princi leaves Christian Brothers College in Year 7 and takes up full-time employment at the Fremantle store, commencing his apprenticeship under his father, Pasquale, making Joe the sixth-generation butcher in the Princi family.

1984

Pasquale Passes away and Joe takes the reigns

After 30 years on Market Street, Fremantle, P.Princi Butchers relocated to Beaconsfield Plaza on Lefroy Road, continuing its tradition of quality and service in a new location.

1987

Beaconsfield Store Opened

After 30 years on Market Street, Fremantle, P.Princi Butchers relocated to Beaconsfield Plaza on Lefroy Street, continuing its tradition of quality and service in a new location.

2020

A New Era Begins

In October 2020, a new chapter began in Bicton as Michele took the reins of the retail store. That year, the store earned the prestigious International Innovation Award and became the first Australian butcher inducted into the Gold Butcher’s Club.

2025

The Seven Generation

We celebrate 75 years of P.Princi. The seventh generation, led by Michele Stellitano, continues to honour tradition while embracing innovation. Today, P.Princi is recognised as one of WA’s most respected butchers, offering customers far more than just meat.

Our 75th Anniversary

P.Princi Butchers is proud to be celebrating 75 years of serving our community with the finest quality meats. Since 1950, when Nonno Pasquale first opened the doors in Northbridge, the baton has been passed from generation to generation from Pasquale to Joe Princi, and now to Michele Stellitano. Seven generations on, our family remains dedicated to tradition, craftsmanship, and community. Here’s to 75 years of quality, and many more to come.
